Nashville Fire Department – Station 16
- An Historic Register structure was restored, remodeled, refurbished, and expanded to accommodate modern fire-fighting operations and technology.
- Site layout of the facility was discretely integrated into a residential neighborhood to minimize traffic disruption and noise.
- Architectural streetscape character was derived from the existing building’s steep-gable streetscape.
- Interior finishes were upgraded. Food service, mechanical, electrical and data systems were replaced. ADA accessibility and life safety upgrades were incorporated.
- The high-performance facility incorporates bio-retention storm water basins, high-value thermal building shell, high-efficiency HVAC and lighting.
- This project earned a preservation excellence award from the Nashville Historic Commission.
