Fire Station #16

Fire Station #16

Fire Station #16, Nashville TN

An Historic Register structure was restored, remodeled, refurbished and expanded to accommodate modern fire-fighting operations and technology.

Site layout of the facility was integrated into a residential neighborhood to minimize traffic disruption and noise. Architectural streetscape character was derived from the existing building's steep-gable streetscape. Internal space plan and circulation was fully reconfigured to streamline pathways between living areas and the apparatus bay.

The high-performance facility incorporates bio-retention storm water basins, high-value thermal building shell, high-efficiency HVAC and lighting.

This project earned a preservation excellence award from the Nashville Historical Commission in 2008.
